Alberto Di Troia is a screenwriter and playwright who has worked extensively across both screen and theatre. Most recently, Alberto served as the co-writer of Episode 2 and script editor on Netflix’s upcoming television series THE SURVIVORS, based on the bestselling novel by Jane Harper. In 2022, he was the inaugural Victorian recipient of the SBS Emerging Writers Incubator, which saw him join Tony Ayres Productions (TAP) as a development assistant. In this role, he contributed to several TAP/ABC projects; writing on the children’s TV series THE SPOOKY FILES, and script coordinating on the critically-acclaimed FIRES.
In theatre, Alberto is the co-director of award-winning performance company Stage Mom, which produced his plays TRULY MADLY BRITNEY and LOVE YOU BITCH. TRULY MADLY BRITNEY was presented in Melbourne Theatre Company’s Cybec Electric season and is currently taught on the syllabus of La Trobe University’s performance writing course. Further, Alberto co-created the live art works I STILL HAVEN’T FOUND WHAT I’M COOKING FOR, which toured nationally, and LOVE ME (BAR)TENDER, commissioned by Darwin Festival and remounted at Arts House, Melbourne.
Finally, Alberto has been the recipient of project funding from Creative Victoria, The City of Melbourne and Midsumma Festival, and previously undertook a Besen Family Writers Placement at Malthouse Theatre.
