As an actor Damon Gameau has starred in several feature films including Rolf de Heer’s The Tracker, and Robert Connolly’s Balibo opposite Anthony LaPaglia for which he was nominated for an AFI award. On the other side of the camera, he wrote and directed the 2011 winning Tropfest short film, Animal Beatbox.
That Sugar Film is his first feature film and had its world premiere at IDFA in late 2014 and then went on to screen at Berlinale 2015 where it was bought by Samuel Goldwyn Films who released Super Size Me in the USA. It is currently the highest grossing Australian documentary of all time. The film also won the 2015 AACTA Award for Best Feature Length Documentary. The accompanying book, That Sugar Book is now a best seller and has been translated and released in a host of countries including the UK and USA. Damon’s second book, ‘That Sugar Guide’, was released in March 2016.
