Cathy Randall’s first feature film, Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger, starring Toni Collette and Keisha Castle-Hughes, premiered at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival and was released by Disney Miramax in Australia later that year. The film received numerous accolades including the best director prize at the Hamburg Film Festival. The screenplay was nominated for an AFI Award, an Australian Writer’s Guild AWGIE Award and shortlisted for The NSW Premier’s Literary Award.
Cathy wrote the sequel to Nim’s Island for Walden Media in Los Angeles. She has several projects in development including the features True Spirit, based on Jessica Watson’s solo around the world journey, for Sun Star Productions (Lion), and two television series, Shadow Hunter (a true life crime thriller) and House Games. She is also writing a screenplay, Siblings, which is about five sperm donor conceived adolescents who go in search of their biological father.
